Deutsche Telekom to roll out vectored DSL from 2013

Deutsche Telekom plans to roll out vectoring technology from 2013 to accelerate broadband speeds on its old copper lines, reports Bloomberg. Telekom Deutschland CEO Niek Jan van Damme told reporters that it hoped to get regulatory approval within six months. Van Damme said that the cost of the project was still being assessed that it was dependent on the conditions and support made available to the company. Deutsche Telekom CEO Rene Obermann wants to roll out the faster vectored DSL services to 24 million customers over the next four years. This means that it would no longer share access to its DSL lines with rival operators. Van Damme insisted that Telekom was not looking to remonopolise the network, adding that it would help boost the company's market share.
