Disney in talks to add SVOD platform to Movistar, Vodafone, Orange pay-TV offers – report
Disney is in talks with Spain’s leading operators Movistar (Telefonica), Orange and Vodafone to integrate its new Disney+ SVOD service with their respective pay-TV platforms, according a report in local daily El Espanol. The US company is currently negotiating whether to offer the streaming service as an add-on or in a convergent package, as Telefonica and Orange already do with their respective plans containing Netflix. In addition, Disney may well launch its service as a standalone platform to give Spanish subscribers more options and increase its potential market, added the report.

Disney+ launched in the US, Canada and Netherlands last month and will be extending the service to the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain on 31 March 2020.

Telefonica finalising plans to add Disney+ to Spanish offer – report

Telefonica is close to finalising a deal to add the forthcoming Disney+ SVOD service to its Movistar+ pay-TV offer, according to unnamed sources cited by La Informacion. The US company will be launching its service as a standalone platform in Spain on 24 March, and Telefonica has already notified telecom regulator CNMC of proposed changes to its convergent packages, as legally required, if an agreement is reached.

Disney+ to launch a week earlier in Europe at EUR 7 a month

The streaming service Disney+ will launch in markets across Western Europe on 24 March, one week earlier than the 31 March date it was initially slated for release. In a statement, Disney said the platform will be rolled out to the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland at a price of GBP 5.99/EUR 6.99 a month or GBP 59.99/EUR 69.99 a year. It will eventually come to Belgium, the Nordics and Portugal in summer 2020.

Movistar (Telefonica) has become the latest Spanish operator to offer its customers bonus data to get through the festive season. Starting 04 December, the company is giving away two free bundles of 30GB data over two full months to all its postpay customers.
