Disney+ to launch in Netherlands, Canada, Australia, NZ in November

Disney announced that its new subscription streaming service Disney+ will also launch in Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand in November, alongside the US. The company also announced which devices will support delivery of the streaming service, saying it has reached global agreements with nearly all the major platforms to distribute the Disney+ app. The service is expected to roll out in most major markets within the next two years.

Along with the US, where Disney+ will cost USD 6.99 per month, the service will launch on 12 November in Canada for CAD 8.99 per month (CAD 89.99 per year) and the Netherlands for EUR 6.99 per month (EUR 69.99 per year). The following week, Disney+ will launch in Australia and New Zealand on 19 November, priced at AUD 8.99 per month (AUD 89.99 per year) and NZD 9.99 per month (NZD 99.99 per year), respectively.

At launch, consumers will be able to subscribe to Disney+ directly or via in-app purchase over Apple and Android devices, including mobile devices, Apple TV, Android TV and Chromecast, as well as on Sony's PlayStation 4 and Roku devices.

Disney also confirmed that it will offer US consumers a bundle of Disney+ and its existing services ESPN+ and Hulu for USD 12.99 per month. This means they get all of the Disney+ programming, including content from the studios Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, plus thousands of live sporting events and sports-themed programmes from ESPN and Hulu’s original content and on-demand streaming library.
