Docomo launches LTE tablets from Samsung, Fujitsu
NTT Docomo announced its first tablets for its Xi LTE service. A LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will go on sale in Japan in the beginning of October, and the Arrows Tab from Fujitsu will launch in the middle of October. Both tablets feature 10.1-inch displays, dual-core CPUs and Android 3.2. Docomo will introduce new applications to go with the devices, including the Hulu and Qik video services as well as the G Cloud gaming service from NHN and Ubitus. The mobile operator also said it's setting up a new product line called docomo Tablet, to reflect the growing importance of the devices in the market.

Docomo launches fresh LTE plans

Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo will introduce new billing plans for its LTE service, Xi, from October. The announcement coincides with the launch of two tablets that support LTE technology. The first plan is a flat-rate plan suited to heavy data users and the second plan is a two-tiered plan that allows moderate data users to pay as they go, up to a set limit. Docomo to launch 2 tablets for LTE network

Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo is planning to release two tablet PCs that can be used on its LTE network dubbed Xi. One of the tablets will be made by Fujitsu and the other by Samsung Electronics and will be launched as early as next month, the Nikkei writes. Both devices will features 10-inch touchscreens and run on Android 3.2. Furthermore, the Fujitsu tablet will be water-resistant. Docomo also plans to launch a streaming video service for Xi.

NTT Docomo's Q1 profit rises 12%

Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo saw its revenues slip in the first quarter ended 30 June while profits increased more than 10 percent. Operating revenues totalled JPY 1.05 trillion, down 3.9 percent from 1.09 trillion in the year-ago quarter, as equipment sales and voice revenues were lower. As operating expenses fell 8.1 percent, operating income rose 11.3 percent to JPY 267.7 billion. The impact of the recent disasters was JPY 7.5 billion. NTT Docomo to lease out LTE network - report

NTT Docomo plans to lease access to its high-speed mobile communications network based on LTE technology to other companies as early as this autumn, reports The Nikkei. This will enable firms lacking data communications facilities to obtain access from Docomo and in turn offer their own services to customers. Docomo unveils summer handset line-up

Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo has introduced its 2011 summer line-up of 24 new mobile devices. The line-up includes nine smartphones, a variety of feature phones compatible with i-mode, as well as two mobile Wi-Fi routers for Docomo's Xi-branded LTE service. Japanese operator NTT Docomo is deploying Sim and chip card developer Gemalto's LTE technology system for mobile communications service Xi (read 'Crossy'). Aeroflex supports NTT Docomo's LTE network launch

Mobile network testing services company Aeroflex has worked with Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo to support the testing, rollout, and launch of their Xi LTE network. Aeroflex provided a suite of test tools to support the development for LTE network. The Docomo Xi LTE network went live in Japan during December 2010. As a result of testing prior to the launch, Aeroflex and Docomo have shown many LTE features including 2x2 MIMO operation, mobility, and Cat 4 (150Mbps) data rates.
