Dtac offers Sim cards to track tourists from Covid-19 high-risk countries

Total Access Communication Public Company (dtac) has introduced the dtac Happy Tourist SIM Cards to help track foreigners arriving from Covid-10 high-risk countries to the Suvarnabhumi Airport, Phuket International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport and Mae Fah Luang – Chiang Rai International Airport. Dtac also reports it is collaborating with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to monitor everyone traveling from foreign countries, both Thais and foreigners. Everybody will receive COVID-19 screening from officials from the Ministry of Public Health and the Immigration Bureau.

Dtac has also set up a booth with staff who will offer dtac Happy Tourist SIM Cards for foreigners visiting Thailand at a screening checkpoint of the Department of Disease Control. The SIM Cards are available at THB 49 and can be used for 14 days.

Foreign travelers who use roaming service in Thailand can download the AOT Airport application from Airports of Thailand PCL. The application will allow travelers to fill out their information. This is designed to help the government to contact and keep track of the travelers as the Covid-19 outbreak evolves. Foreign travelers who have no plans to use roaming service are required to buy SIM Cards at the checkpoint. This policy has been in effect since 12 March 2020.

Dtac launched its ‘Happy Tourist SIM’ package in November 2019. For THB 299, the pack includes ‘More & Beyond’ privileges including maximum speed data of 15 Gbps, unlimited chat on Messenger, Line, WhatsApp, WeChat and Kakao Talk, unlimited on-net voice calls for 8 days. The SIM card also offers benefits and discounts on shopping, restaurants, residences and travel in collaboration with Dtac partners, as well as Call Center 1678 where multilingual staff can serve tourists of any nationality throughout their travel.
