E-Plus, China Mobile, ZTE plan TD-LTE field test in Germany
German mobile network operator E-Plus has announced a TD-LTE field test in Germany in co-operation with China Mobile and ZTE. The field test, set to launch in Q1 2011, will use the 2.6 GHz frequencies E-Plus purchased in the mobile spectrum auction in May 2010. China Mobile, which has considerable experience operating TDD networks, is supporting the test with technical know-how. ZTE will provide base stations based on the SDR platform, which offer an integrated LTE FDD/TD-LTE solution.

Base launches new Allnet Flat 200 for EUR 20 per month

E-Plus flatrate brand Base has confirmed that it expand is portfolio of flat-rate tariffs with the new Allnet Flat 200 from April. For EUR 20 per month, customers get 200 minutes to any German network, plus 30 minutes to other Base customers and free texts across the E-Plus network. The new tariff means that the Allnet tariffs are now available in four options - with 50, 200, 500 minutes and unlimited calls.

E-Plus confirms launch of LTE field tests in Germany

E-Plus Group has launched LTE field tests in Germany using the 1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz frequency bands. At the same time, the mobile network operator is continuing the expansion of its network with HSPA+ technology. Base to double data before speed is throttled from 01 March

German mobile network E-Plus will double the data limit before speed is throttled for its Base internet flat-rate brand from 200 to 500 MB from 01 March, the company has confirmed to teltarif.de. This will apply to the EUR 10 per month handset/smartphone Base internet flat-rate. Once a user reaches 500 MB, speed will be throttled to GPRS levels (maximum of 56 kbps).

Dutch operator KPN announced a joint development programme with ZTE focussed on the application of LTE technology in Germany and Belgium. KPN Mobile International and ZTE have scheduled a field trial program for 2011 to investigate the capabilities of ZTE's commercial equipment. E-Plus unveils alliances with Huawei, Macheem

German mobile network operator E-Plus has announced various alliances at Mobile World Congress. These include a long-term, partnership with Huawei to develop an innovative IT platform for optimisation of customer processes. This will be based on Huawei's Next Generation Business Support System. There will be 371 million LTE users worldwide in 2015, according to a study by Idate. E-Plus's mobile brand for Turks Ay Yildiz is launching a nationwide promotional tour to find the Ay Yildiz 'party face', with the winner getting a free trip to Istanbul. E-Plus CEO renews calls for spectrum redistribution

E-Plus CEO Torsten Dirks has called on the Federal Network Agency (BnA) for an equitable redistribution of mobile frequencies, teltarif.de reports citing an interview with the 'Berliner Zeitung' newspaper.
