Ericsson transfers two sites and 300 workers to Combitech

Ericsson said that it has agreed to transfer its 2G and 3G development units in Linkoping and Gothenburg to Combitech in October, and will outsource approximately 300 workers. Combitech and already supplies R&D consultancy services to Ericsson, which it will continue to do after the transfer goes into effect.  Ericsson said it will consolidate 2G and 3G development at fewer sites, in line with its R&D strategy.

Ericsson said the deal will increase flexibility in R&D. Combitech employs approximately 1,400 people. Combitech president and CEO Hans Torin said the agreement will strengthen its long-term strategy within digitisation, cyber security and Internet of Things.

The agreement and transfer of staff are not expected to have any significant impact on Ericsson’s financials.
