Facebook adds public posts to search function
Facebook has launched a new feature to its search function called Search FYI. It allows users to find out what people other than their friends and family are saying about topics that matter to them. It is available now in English on desktop, iOS and Android. 

When users tap into the search box and start typing, they will see timely, personalised search suggestions. As they type, things that are happening 'right now' will be highlighted to follow popular stories as they unfold. 

The feature is designed to bring up the most recent, relevant public posts and posts from friends. It also allows users to find public conversations related to a link, to see popular quotes and phrases mentioned in these posts and an aggregate overview of sentiment on the topic.

Facebook announces updates to Facebook Search

Facebook has announced updates to Facebook Search aimed at making it easier for users to find posts that have been shared with them. With a quick search, users can find an old video, old photos, or a news article they have been meaning to read. Users can also still search using phrases such as "My friends who live in New York." The search results are personalised and unique to the user. These updates will be available for Facebook for iPhone in addition to desktop and will roll out this week in English.
