Facebook to launch cloud gaming platform worldwide, partner with Ubisoft

Facebook said its cloud-streamed games platform, introduced on its app and browser in beta late last year, now covers 98 percent of mainland US, with plans to reach 100 percent by the fall. The games will now be rolled out in Canada and Mexico, and then Western and Central Europe by early next year. The company noted that over 1.5 million play cloud-streamed games on Facebook Gaming every month.

Facebook also announced a partnership with Ubisoft, to expand its games library. This will put Ubisoft’s popular title Assassin’s Creed Rebellion on Facebook Gaming, as well Hungry Shark Evolution and Hungry Dragon. Ubisoft’s Mighty Quest and Trials Frontier games will also come on board over the coming months.

Lastly, Facebook said it will continue to update its Play destination on Facebook Gaming, to make is easier for people to discover games, both cloud-streamed and HTML5. The company is also continuing to reduce latency for cloud games on both Android and desktop in order to unlock more game genres.
