France adds 900,000 mobile subscribers in year to June
France added 900,000 Sim cards in a year to reach a total of 70.4 million at the end of June, according to the latest quarterly statistics from telecom regulator Arcep. The strong annual growth rate was the same in the first quarter and 1.8 times higher than a year earlier. MNO subscribers grew by 695,000 in the second quarter alone. MVNOs added 191,000 in the period, to reach 7.7 million, for an 11.35 percent MVNO share of mobile users, compared to 11.21 percent in the first quarter. Arcep reported that there were 1.4 million portability requests in the second quarter, twice as many as a year earlier, but down from a record 2.6 million in the first quarter when Free Mobile entered the market. The number of mobile phone users on no-tie-in-commitment contracts (PAYG) rose by 1.1 million for a 26.6 percent share of customers, compared to 19 or 20 percent during 2008-2011.

French mobile base grows 7.4% in year to Sept

French mobile customers grew by 7.4 percent in a year to reach 72 million at the end of September, the highest annual growth rate in 10 years, according to telecom regulator Arcep. Iliad grows revenues 39%, Free Mobile signs 3.6 mln users

French telecom group Iliad reported EUR 1.44 billion in first half revenues, up 39 percent on EUR 1.04 billion in the first half of 2011. French mobile operators' revenues shrink 4.5% in Q2

French operators revenues fell by 4.5 percent to EUR 4.5 billion in the second quarter, according to telecom regulator Arcep. Arcep shortens period for asymmetric rates at Free

French regulator Arcep has reduced the period during which new mobile operator Free Mobile will be able to charge higher termination rates. Following consultation with the European Commission, Arcep moved the deadline for ending the asymmetric rates back to 30 June 2013, from an original proposal of end-2013. France's 63 million mobile phone subscribers had an average download speed of 3 Mbps and an upload speed of 1.3 Mbps at the end of 2011, according to telecom regulator Arcep.
