France Telecom launches Orange Switzerland sale
France Telecom Orange has launched the sale of Orange Switzerland, valued at some CHF 2 billion. Les Echos lists the shortlisted bidders as US conglomerate Liberty Telecom and investment funds Providence, Apax, Carlyle and Bain Capital. Orange Switzerland's expected price tag is six times its operating profit. The new owner will have invest another CHF 150 million to CHF 300 million for the operator's licence in February 2012. Swisscom has a 62 percent share of Switzerland mobile phone market, followed by Sunrise with 21 percent and Orange with 17 percent. In related news, Sunrise Communications has just announced its acquisition of business operator NextiraOne's Swiss operations.
