FTC clears Google of anti-competition charges
South Korea's Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has acquited Google of anti-competition allegations filed by NHN and Daum Communications, Yonhap News reports. The two local internet portal operators accused Google of hurting fair competition by making its own search engine default on the Android OS. The FTC, however, has found that NHN and Daum continue to have a large share of the local search market and said that users have alternatives to Google as they can easily download NHN and Daum apps to their phones. Furthermore, Google's market share in South Korea remained around 10 percent before and after its push to preload its own search engine on Android.
