Global smartphone shipments fall another 6.6% in Q1 despite Huawei surge - IDC

Wednesday 1 May 2019 | 09:19 CET | News
Worldwide smartphone shipments plunged another 6.6 percent in the first quarter of 2019, marking the sixth consecutive quarter of decline, according to preliminary data from IDC. The fall to 310.8 million units is a clear sign that 2019 will be another down year for worldwide smartphone shipments, predicted the researcher, with Huawei and Vivo the only two vendors currently bucking market trends after posting strong year on year rises of 50.3 percent and 24.0 percent respectively.
