Google Play hits 25 billion downloads
Google announced that the Android app store Google Play has reached the milestone of 25 billion downloads. To mark the achievement, Google is offering a selection of premium apps and content at discounted prices over the next five days. These include games and apps at 25 cents from Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, Runtastic and Full Fat, as well as 25 movies "you must own", 25 banned books, 25 albums "that changed the world" and the 25 top-selling magazines. Google Play offers in total over 675,000 apps and games. The company last reported 10 billion downloads in December 2011. Apple's App Store hit the 25 billion mark in March this year.

Google meldt dat de app store Google Play de grens is gepasseerd van 25 miljard downloads. Voor die gelegenheid wordt vijf dagen lang een aantal betaalde apps in prijs verlaagd tot een kwartje. Er zitten spellen tussen van Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, Runtastic en Full Fat, 25 films, 25 boeken, 25 albums en 25 tijdschriften. Google Play bevat 625.000 apps en games. De grens van 10 miljard downloads werd in december 2011 gepasseerd. Apple telde in maart dit jaar af naar de 25 miljardste download.

Apple App Store passes 25 bln apps downloaded

Apple announced that its App Store has passed the milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded. The announcement was made with a banner on its website. Aplpe has been holding a competition in the run-up to the milestone. The grand prize is a USD 10,000 gift voucher for the customer who downloaded the 25 billionth app. The latest milestone follows 15 billion apps downloaded last July by iPhone and iPad users. Google recently announced that its Android Market has grown to over 1 billion apps downloaded each month.

Google announced that the Android Market has passed the milestone of 10 billion apps downloaded. The app store is currently growing at a rate of 1 billion app downloads per month. To celebrate the milestone, the market is starting a 10-day sale. Each day it will offer a number of apps for only USD 0.10 each.
