Google unveils Datally mobile data management app

Google has unveiled a new Android app designed to help users manage their mobile data usage. The application, dubbed Datally, tracks data usage on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis and provides personalised recommendations on how to save data, complete with notifications of public Wi-Fi hot spots available nearby. It also comes with a Data Saver bubble, described as a speedometer for data, to block background data and track data usage for each separate app. The feature allows users to block data with one tap if an app’s data usage gets out of control.

The company said it’s been trialling Datally in the Philippines for the past few months, and users are saving up to 30 percent on their data. The app is available now on the Google Play Store for all phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and higher.
