Hawaiki Cable expands subsea network, launches direct route to California
Hawaiki Submarine Cable has expanded its subsea network with a direct route to Los Angeles. The new route is expected to offer increased connectivity and route diversity to clients operating between Australia, New Zealand and the US. The new route completes Hawaiki’s existing links to the United States, including Hillsboro, Seattle and Hawaii. Los Angeles becomes Hawaiki’s third PoP on the US West coast.

The architecture introduces a new ultra-low latency path between Sydney and Los Angeles, specifically designed to support latency-sensitive applications such as online gaming and high frequency trading.

Hawaiki Submarine Cable has recently extended its US point of presence from Hillsboro, Oregon to the Westin Building Exchange carrier hotel and data centre in Seattle, Washington. The WBX provides clients with connectivity options and direct access to all major carriers and cloud providers located within the building. 

Launched in July 2018, the Hawaiki transpacific cable is a 15,000 km fibre optic deep-sea, carrier-neutral cable with a design capacity of 67 Tbps. The Hawaiki capacity link connects Australia and New Zealand to Hawaii and mainland US.

Hawaiki upgrades US connectivity with Ciena submarine network equipment

Hawaiki has announced it has upgraded its Oregon point-of-interconnect on the US West Coast, deploying Ciena's GeoMesh submarine network equipment leveraging Waveserver Ai to create a link from Hawaii. According to Hawaiki, this route previously went from Kapolei (Hawaii) to Pacific City (Oregon) where an optical-electricaloptical regeneration was required to allow protection on the terrestrial link to Hillsboro.

Hawaiki to power Tomoo cable deployment in New Caledonia

Hawaiki Submarine Cable has signed a contract with SCCI, a carrier recently incorporated in New Caledonia. Under the terms of the agreement, Hawaiki and SCCI will deploy the 'Tomoo' subsea cable to directly connect the US, Australia and New Zealand. The new cable benefits from a customized network design, including connection of both New Caledonia's Main Island and Isle of Pines.

New Zealand ISP and power utility Trustpower has signed an agreement with Hawaiki Submarine Cable. Trustpower has acquired capacity on the Hawaiki submarine cable system. Trustpower thus expands its ISP network to the US, including a new Point of Presence in Hillsboro, Oregon and secures its own international connectivity with capacity on the Hawaiki transpacific cable system.
