HMD Global unveils Nokia 2.2 Android One smartphone for low-end market

HMD Global is strengthening its low-end range of Nokia smartphones. The new Nokia 2.2 is the first in the 2 series to receive Android One. It will launch this month worldwide for a recommend price of EUR 99. 

HMD also announced that the Nokia 3 launched in 2017 will receive an update to the latest version of Android, Pie. The new Nokia 2.2 will come with Pie and be upgraded later to Android Q, the next version of Google's operating system. The company said this is part of its policy to ensure customers benefit from the latest software. All its Android One device come with three years of updates. 

In addition to Android Pie, the Nokia 2.2 comes with new features such as facial recognition, AI camera software and a dedicated button for the Google Assistant. The phone features a 5.7-inch screen with top notch for the front camera and changeable casings in a choice of Pink Sand, Ice Blue and Forest Green colours. It runs the quad-core MediaTek A22 chipset and will be available in a choice of black or silver.
