HP unveiled a new range of mobile devcies based on the Palm webOS, including a tablet PC and smartphones for the business and consumer market. The HP TouchPad is a 9.7-inch tablet with 1024x768 resolution touchscreen, Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU 1.2-GHz processor and 16 or 32GB storage. The device comes loaded with a web broswer with support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta, QuickOffice, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, internal speakers, Exchange and POP mail support and a 6,300 mAh battery. The HP Synergy feature allows for syncing contacts and messages across social networking and mail accounts. While there is no mobile access, the TouchPad can be linked to a webOS phone to receive calls and SMS, and has a front-facing camera that can be used for video calling. The Touch to share feature also allows web link sharing with a webOS phone. HP also announced two new webOS smartphones. Aimed at business users, the HP Pre3 has a 3.58-inch touchscreen, 1.4-GHz processor and slide-out keyboard. The phone supports encrypted data and business mail, VPNs, integrated SMS and instant messaging, the latest Flash and HTML5, video calls with a 1.3MP camera, multi-tasking, 8 or 16GB storage and Wi-Fi sharing. For the consumer market, HP announced the HP Veer, a small phone "the size of a credit card", with 2.57-inch touchscreen, slide-out keyboard and 800 MHz processor. It comes with Wi-Fi sharing, GPS, multimedia player, 8GB storage and a 5-megapixel camera. The Veer will launch first in the spring, followed by the Pre in the summer and the TouchPad later in the summer. HP also announced expansion of its webOS app store, including an Amazon Kindle app for the TouchPad.
