HP TouchPad to go on sale 1 July
HP announced that the Wi-Fi version of the HP TouchPad will be available in the US from 1 July. The webOS tablet will be available in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany a few days later and in Canada in mid-July. Availability is scheduled to follow later this year in Italy and Spain, as well as in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore. The TouchPad will sell in the US from retailers, commercial resellers and direct from HP with the option of either 16 GB or 32 GB of storage for USD 499.99 and USD 599.99, respectively. Preorders in North America and Europe will begin 19 June. HP also announced it will be partnering with AT&T to introduce a mobile version of the TouchPad later this summer. More information will be available closer to availability.

The 16GB version of the tablet, which originally cost USD 500, will now sell for USD 400, and the 32GB model drops to USD 500 from USD 600. HP in talks to license webOS

HP is in talks license its webOS mobile software, CEO Leo Apotheker told Bloomberg. He said HP is talking to "a number of companies" which have expressed interest, but declined to give further details. Apotheker declined to give a timeframe for deciding on webOS partners, saying "there is no time pressure to do this." HP starts accepting apps for TouchPad

HP has started accepting apps for its upcoming TouchPad. Expected to launch this summer, the tablet runs on webOS 3.0, the OS developed by Palm. HP earlier released a SDK for developers, and they can now start submitting apps for approval. In-app purchases will also be possible from the start for the new OS.
