Huawei has accused the US government of using 'unscrupulous' methods to disrupt the company's business operations and those of its partners, including cyber attacks on the Huawei intranet and internal information systems.
In a statement, Huawei claimed that the US government has also ordered law enforcement agencies to 'threaten, menace, coerce, entice and incite' former and current Huawei employees to turn against the company; unlawfully searched, detained and arrested Huawei employees and Huawei partners; initiated investigations into the company based on false media reports; and tried to obstruct normal business operations through intimidation, detaining shipments and denying visas.
Huawei also responded a report from the Wall Street Journal on 30 August which said the US Department of Justice (DoJ) was investigating the company for alleged theft of smartphone camera patents. Huawei said these allegations were false and accused the complainant of trying to exploit the the current geopolitical situation to extort money from the company by promoting a false narrative through the media. Huawei insists that this behaviour should not be used as the basis for a criminal investigation by the DoJ.
Huawei reiterated that the US government has failed to provide sufficient evidence to support its allegations, and condemned their efforts to discredit the company and damage its leading industry position.
