Huawei announced new services for developers to support its growing number of services users. In a statement following its Developer Conference in Dongguan, China, Huawei said its Mobile Services have over 100 million users outside China and it supports more than 910,000 developers worldwide.
Services include the Huawei Browser, which has doubled its reach each month since launching outside China in March, and the Huawei AppGallery, which has generated over 1 billion app downloads outside China. Huawei said it also plans to take the Huawei Music and Assistant services global this year, in cooperation with partners.
For developers, Huawei announced its new engagement programme called 'Shining-Star’ and the new Huawei DigiX Labs. The company plans to open the labs in six regions in 2019, starting in Dusseldorf, Germany. Developers and partners will be able to use the sites to test their services remotely and access resources to develop apps and services. The labs are equipped with AR, VR, AI, CameraKit, Ability Gallery, HMS core and other open technological capabilities to offer "a truly open space for innovative work", Huawei said.
HMS–core is a collection of Huawei developer kits to support and augment functionality across devices. These kits work together to ensure that Huawei devices provide a great user experience right out of the box, the company said.
At the Huawei Developer conference, the company also signed a new cooperation agreement with Filmin, which will bring its streaming catalogue to Huawei users in Spain. Filmin offers over 9,000 movies, 248 TV series and 400 broadcast partners, providing viewers with over 400 collections and thematic channels to discover new content.
