IHS Towers is expanding its presence in Brazil with the acquisition of SP5, a company owned by telecom infrastructure provider GTS, for USD 315 million. SP5’s portfolio includes 2,115 telecom towers located in 25 of Brazil’s 27 states. IHS Towers will own around 7,000 towers in Brazil after the acquisition, in addition to a secondary fibre network covering some 6.4 million homes passed.
The acquisition should deliver revenue and adjusted EBITDA of around USD 38 million and USD 36 million, respectively, in the first full year following completion. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter.
