IHS Towers acquires 2,115 towers in Brazil

IHS Towers is expanding its presence in Brazil with the acquisition of SP5, a company owned by telecom infrastructure provider GTS, for USD 315 million. SP5’s portfolio includes 2,115 telecom towers located in 25 of Brazil’s 27 states. IHS Towers will own around 7,000 towers in Brazil after the acquisition, in addition to a secondary fibre network covering some 6.4 million homes passed.

The acquisition should deliver revenue and adjusted EBITDA of around USD 38 million and USD 36 million, respectively, in the first full year following completion. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter.

IHS Towers now owns 6,745 towers in total in Brazil, its second biggest market, in addition to a secondary fibre network, covering approximately 6.4 million homes.

IHS Towers appoints Bates as senior VP and chief strategy officer

IHS Towers has announced the appointment of Bill Bates as senior vice president and chief strategy officer. Based in the US, Bates will be responsible for the group's organic and inorganic strategy, running group mergers and acquisitions and group commercial, reporting directly to Sam Darwish, IHS Towers Chairman and CEO. With immediate effect, Bates will serve as a member of IHS Towers' executive committee.

IHS Towers revenues up 9% in Q3, exceeds 30,500 towers

Telecommunications infrastructure company IHS Towers reported revenue of USD 400.5 million in the third quarter of 2021, up 8.7 percent on the year-earlier result of USD 368.3 million thanks in part to retrospective currency-related amendments to contracts with MTN Nigeria. On an organic basis, revenues rose 11.8 percent driven mainly by escalations, lease amendments and foreign exchange resets, as well as new sites and new colocations.

IHS signs deal to set up telecom tower company in Egypt

IHS Towers has signed an agreement with Egypt Digital Company for Investment (EDCI), the largest shareholder in Egypt Towers for Technology Services Company, to obtain a licence from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to erect and lease telecom towers. Upon completion, a new company called IHS Telecom Towers Egypt will be formed. IHS Towers will own 80 percent of IHS Telecom Towers Egypt and EDCI will own the other 20 percent.

IHS offers 22.5 mln shares in IPO at price estimated between USD 21 and USD 24

IHS Holding said it has commenced its initial public offering (IPO) of 22.50 million ordinary shares, 18.0 million of which are being offered by IHS Towers and 4.50 million by certain other shareholders. The underwriters have a 30-day option to purchase up to 2.70 million more shares from IHS Towers and 675,000 ordinary shares from the selling shareholders at the IPO price, currently estimated at between USD 21.00 and USD 24.00 per share.

IHS Towers files for IPO on New York Stock Exchange

IHS Holding has filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission relating to a potential IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. In a statement, IHS Towers said the timing, number of shares to be offered and price range of the proposed offering have not yet been determined. The launch of the offering is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals, governance approvals and conducive market conditions.
