Intel buys Mobileye for USD 15.3 bln

Intel has acquired Mobileye for USD 63.54 per share in cash, representing an equity value of USD 15.3 billion and an enterprise value of USD 14.7 billion.

Intel said that the acquisition will accelerate innovation for the automotive industry, combining its own computing and connectivity expertise with Mobileye’s computer vision expertise to create automated driving solutions from the cloud through the network to the car. Intel believes the vehicle systems, data and services market will be worth up to USD 70 billion by 2030.

Intel and Mobileye joined forces last summer, with BMW Group, to make autonomous cars and develop future mobility concepts. BMW later said it plans to launch a fleet of self-driving fleet by the second half of 2017, with the help of the two companies.
