Intel unveils new processors for businesses, gamers, with focus on thin, light laptops, PCs

Intel has during CES announced four new processor families. The all digital CES event is taking place on 11-14 January.

11the Gen Intel vPro, Intel EvoFor businesses

The company has introduced the 11th Gen Intel vPro platform, with processors aimed at thin and light laptops. Combined with the new Intel Core vPro platform, the processors provide deep security, including what Intel says is the industry’s first silicon-enabled artificial intelligence (AI) threat detection to help stop ransomware and crypto-mining attacks. It is also equipped with Intel Control Flow Enforcement Technology for even more protection from attacks, the company said. The system features Intel 10-nanometer (nm) SuperFin technology, Intel Iris Xe graphics and integrated Intel Wi-Fi 6/6E (Gig+).

The company also announced the launch of its Intel Evo vPro platform, aimed at improving the laptop experience for business users0. The company noted that laptop designs verified on the platform are stylish, thin and light, with a strong immersive visual experience. They also provide high responsiveness, instant wake and long battery life. More than 60 new laptops from top manufacturers will be available this year that combine the vPro and Intel Evo.

Lastly here, Intel announced Intel Evo Chromebooks, for a new class of premium Chromebooks.

New Processors for students, schools

To help schools and students get more out of their PC, Intel has introduced new N-series Intel Pentium Silver and Celeron processors. The processors are designed on Intel’s 10nm architecture for smooth application performance and browsing while multitasking, with in addition advanced camera and connectivity features for a better video conferencing and viewing experience.

Focus on gaming with Core H-series

Intel in addition unveiled a new line of 11th Gen Intel Core H-series mobile processors for gaming. The company said the processors extends the 11th Gen mobile family of products and is aimed at laptops as thin as 16 mm. Led by the Intel Core i7 Special Edition 4-core processor with up to 5 gigahertz (GHz) Turbo, the H35 processors are specifically targeted for ultraportable gaming. They feature new Gen 4 PCIE architecture for connecting to latest discrete graphics, with low latency and immersive game play. At CES, Acer, ASUS, MSI and Vaio announced new systems powered by the processor, with more than 40 designs from top manufacturing partners launching in the first half of this year.

For mobile gamers, Intel also announced an 8-core processor that will start shipping later this quarter. The company said the platform sports features that would normally only be found in high-end desktop systems, including up to 5GHz, 20 lanes of PCIe Gen 4.0 architecture for fastest storage and discrete graphics, and Intel Killer Wi-fi 6E (Gig+). 

Preview of Rocket Lake and Alder Lake

Finally, Intel demonstrated next-generation desktop technology for gamers and others coming to market in 11th Gen Intel Core S-series desktop processors (Rocket Lake-S). The processors will come to devices in Q1.

The company also showed off its Alder Lake next-generation processor with x86 architecture and featuring Intel’s most power-scalable system-on-chip. Due in the second half, Alder Lake will combine high-performance cores and high-efficiency cores into a single product. The processor will also be Intel’s first processor built on a new, enhanced version of 10nm SuperFin and will serve as the foundation for leadership desktop and mobile processors that deliver smarter, faster and more efficient real-world computing, the company said.
