Jio, Samsung demo 5G, LTE use cases at IMC 2019
Indian mobile operator Reliance Jio Infocomm and Samsung Electronics are showcasing real-world use cases powered by next generation technology at the India Mobile Congress, held from 14 to 16 October in New Delhi. In partnership with Samsung Networks, Jio has deployed a green-field and all-IP LTE network, which supports over 340 million LTE subscribers as of August.

Samsung and Jio will jointly exhibit live applications of 5G. The trial will feature services from Samsung Networks’ 5G product portfolio, including its 3.5GHz service for 5G Massive MIMO Unit, its 28GHz Access Unit and CPE, its virtualized radio access and core, and 5G mobile devices.

Demonstrations will include a virtual classroom, which allows attendees to watch 360-degree video of a lecture taken from a classroom in Jio’s Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai; as well as massive full HD content streaming shows on multiple smartphones (Galaxy S10 5G) simultaneously and 4K video streaming using multiple 5G tablets.

Jio and Samsung will demonstrate a live public safety network over LT” featuring Mission-Critical-Push-To-X (MCPTX) communication. Conceptualized as OneNet, a potential India’s Emergency Communication Network, this is designed to enable first responders to connect with each other using a broadband network in a controlled and geo-fenced manner.

Jio and Samsung will also showcase a Public Safety LTE service using MCPTX. By highlighting the use of LTE for real-time streaming of videos and HD images of scenes during emergencies, the platform is designed to enable multi-lateral communications to be connected at once to transfer video, images and voice simultaneously using multicast technology.
