Mediapro's Telefoot channel signs distribution deal with Bouygues Telecom

Mediapro's forthcoming French pay-TV channel, airing most of the Ligue 1 football games, will be available directly via the IPTV platform of Bouygues Telecom. This follows a similar deal signed with Bouygues' rival SFR at the end of July, as part of a wider content partnership with Altice France. Going live on 17 August, the Telefoot channel will show the first Ligue 1 match of  the new season on 21 August.

The agreement between Mediapro and Bouygues Telecom was widely expected, after the Spanish media group announced a four-year partnership with Bouygues' sister company TF1 in early June. According to the French press, the distribution deal could be worth EUR 50-60 million, representing half the amount demanded a few months ago.

In related news, Canal Plus launched a promotional offer for football fans, giving access to 28 of the best Ligue 1 games of the forthcoming season. The broadcaster, which reached an exclusive distribution and sub-licensing deal with BeIN Sports earlier this year, is discounting the package bundling BeIN Sports with its Canal Plus channel to EUR 25 per month (normally EUR 34.90/month) for customers signing up to a two-year contract.
