Microsoft plans Windows Phone 7 upgrades
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced a number of upgrades planned for the company's Windows Phone 7 OS. The first should launch within around two weeks, he said in a presentation at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. New additions to Windows Phone 7 planned for this year include the app store integrated into multitasking, Internet Explorer 9 for Windows phones and Twitter integration in the people hub. Microsoft said it has seen a 93 percent satisfaction rate among Windows Phone 7 users, and nine out ten say they would recommend the phones. Its Microsoft Marketplace already has over 8,000 apps after four months in the market. Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop also joined Ballmer on stage, and the two stressed the importance of their new cooperation to offer a third mobile ecosystem to rival Apple and Android. They aim to make theirs the most operator-friendly system, but did provide further details.
