Motorola releases Motorola One, Motorola One Power smartphones, with only essential apps

Motorola has come out with two new smartphones, the Motorola One and Motorola One Power. Both phones will come with Android One, three years of security updates and a smart camera with Google Lens, plus Google Play Protect. According to the company, the new phones come with only the essential Android OS and Moto experiences, leaving more storage room and giving more control to the owner. Finally, the Motorola One family will also be among the first to upgrade to Android 9 Pie, soon after launch. 

The Motorola One sports a curved glass body, with a 5.9 inch HD+19:9 display. Users will be also be able to record 4K videos with the 13MP dual camera system and 8MP selfie camera. In addition, the phone comes with a TurboPower charger and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 2.0 GHz octa-core processor. The phone will be available in the coming months for a recommended retail price of EUR 299 in various countries of Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. 

The Motorola One Power offers a bigger 6.2-inch 19:9 Full HD+ display and the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 1.8GHz octa-core processor, plus expandable storage of up to 256 GB of extra space. The phone will be available in India from October, with the local price released then.

Lenovo FY profits up strongly as Moto business turns around

Lenovo reported a strong improvement in profits for the year to March, driven by cost-cutting and a return to profit at its mobile activities in the second half of the year. Revenues rose 12.5 percent to a record USD 51.0 billion, operating profit tripled to USD 1.2 billion, and the net profit rose to USD 597 million from USD 33 million a year ago. Lenovo proposed a final dividend of HKD 0.218, up from HKD 0.205 a year ago.

Motorola has presented its new Moto One Vision smartphone, which comes with a large 6.3-inch screen with 21:9, cinema-like aspect ratio. The phone launches first in Brazil for BRL 1,999, followed by Mexico and the rest of Latin America and Europe this month, at a recommended price of EUR 300. It will later be available in selected other countries in Asia, the Middle East and Australia.

Rival Telenor Bulgaria is also selling this smartphone to its customers.

Vodafone Spain said it will be offering the new Motorola One smartphone on an exclusive basis in combination with a variety of its plans. The operator said the handset will be available at a discounted rate of EUR 216 on Black Friday and for EUR 9 a month and no downpayment on 24-month One or Red S, M or L contracts. The Android One phone has a 5.9-inch screen and comes with at least 2 years of guaranteed security updates.

Motorola and iFixit have announced a partnership to offer certified repair kits for some of the most recent Motorola smartphones. The kits contain tools, genuine Motorola-branded replacement parts, complete with step-by-step instructions on how to fix the device. Motorola has started selling its model Motorola One in Slovakia, reported Zive.sk. Although the official price has been set at EUR 299, the devices will be available for EUR 249 in the chains of official partners. Slovak Telekom and O2 Slovakia also plan to add the model to their portfolios, but their subsidised prices are not known yet.
