MTN wins 800 MHz spectrum in Ghana
MTN Ghana has won the 2x10MHz spectrum block in the 800MHz band, the National Communications Authority announced. The operator is expected to pay the reserve price of USD 67.5 million for the spectrum, as the other three applicants did not qualify for the auction. According to Adom News, only MTN paid the mandatory 10 percent deposit for the auction. The other three bidders announced by the National Communications Authority were Surfline Communications, Goldkey Telecoms and Migson Communications, which the NCA said were "unsuccessful in their efforts". As MTN was the only qualified bidder, it will pay the minimum price of USD 67.5 million for the spectrum, assuming all other conditions for the licence are fulfilled.
