Netflix drops Apple's iTunes as payment channel for new subscribers

Netflix has stopped offering billing to new customers through Apple's iTunes. Customers downloading its iOS app can no longer pay through Apple's billing system and are instead directed to the Netflix website. As a result, Netflix does not have pay Apple a share of the revenue, VentureBeat reports.

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed that the company no longer supports iTunes as a method of payment for new users. Existing subscribers can continue to use iTunes for billing. The company started the change earlier in 2018 in the US and has now made it effective worldwide.
