Netflix unveils first original Dutch-language series

Netflix has announced its first original Dutch-language production. The ten-episode crime series 'Undercover' about ecstasy producer  Ferry Bouman operating on the Belgium-Netherlands border is based in part on real events, Netflix said. It will feature the actors Anna Drijver, Frank Lammers and Tom Waes and is produced in cooperation with the Flemish public broadcaster VRT. 

Other producers on the project include the Belgians Jan Theys and Nico Molenaar, Belgian production company De Mensen and the distributor Dutch Filmworks. The series is expected to premier on Netflix worldwide in 2019.

Netflix counts around 2.4 million subscribers in the Netherlands, equal to around 32 percent of households, according Q3 figures from Telecompaper.
