Oculus starts shipping Rift to first customers
Oculus has started shipping its Rift virtual reality headset to the first customers. The company said customers who subscribed in its Kickstarter campaign will receive the devices first, in over 20 countries around the world. 

The Rift is available for purchase on the Oculus website and at Amazon, Best Buy and Microsoft Stores. Over 30 games are available to start to play with the headset, as well as a range of video and photos on Facebook, Vimeo and Twitch. The device sells for USD 599, with the latest sales slated for delivery in July.

Oculus Rift to launch in Europe, Canada on 20 September

The Oculus Rift will go on sale in Europe and Canada on 20 September, the company announced. Sellers will include Amazon.co.uk, John Lewis, Curry's PCWorld, GAME and Harrods in the UK; Amazon.fr and FNAC in France; Amazon.de, MediaMarkt and Saturn in Germany; and Best Buy and Microsoft Store Online in Canada. Worldwide sales of virtual reality headsets are set to reach USD 895 million on 12.8 million unit shipments in 2016, according to a report from Strategy Analytics. Oculus Rift shipments hit some delays on parts shortage

Oculus Rift shipments may encounter some delays due to parts shortage, the Wall Street Journal reported. The Facebook unit said an unexpected component shortage will be slowing deliveries of its new USD 599 Oculus Rift headsets for some customers. Oculus did not specify which components were affected, nor did it provide any more information about how long the delays would be or how many shipments would be affected. The company did not respond to a request for comment.

Oculus Rift goes on sale for USD 599

The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset will sell for USD 599. The company confirmed the price at the start of pre-sales on 6 January. While the initial pre-sales suggested delivery in March for the new device, after a day the date had been pushed back to June. Every Rift will come bundled with the game Lucky's Tale by Platful and the CCP's EVE: Valkyrie.
