OnePlus suspends sales in Europe as demand exceeds supply
OnePlus announced that it's suspending sales of its new OnePlus 3 smartphone in Europe for a month, due to overwhelming demand. Sales will be suspended from 09 August until 12 September in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. 

OnePlus said that since the launch of the new phone in June, when it stopped requiring an invite to purchase the device, the OnePlus 3 has sold faster than any of its previous phones. Especially in Europe, sales "have been way better than what we expected". As a result it needs time to scale up its production and replenish its inventory. OnePlus said existing orders will still be filled and customers can sign up to be notified when new phones are available.

The market is still dominated by Samsung, with 42.4 percent of all sales, followed by Apple with 17.7 percent and Nokia with 8.9 percent.

OnePlus may open physical stores in future – Pei

Chinese handset maker OnePlus may adapt its business model and open physical stores in large cities all over the world in a few years' time, according to the company's co-founder Carl Pei. In an interview with Spanish daily El Pais, Pei suggested that OnePlus was looking to enhance its direct-to-consumer strategy by opening two or three stores in large cities. OnePlus 3 appears in every segment of Elisa July top ten

The OnePlus 3, Samsung Galaxy J5, and iPhone 5s and 6s appear in every section of Finnish operator Elisa's top ten best-selling phones for July 2016. OnePlus drops invites with new launch

OnePlus is doing away with its invite-only sales model with the launch of the new OnePlus 3 smartphone. On 14 June, the new phone will be available for sale to anyone, and not just those with invites. The company said the invite system allowed it manage logistics better when it was starting out as a small company. It also helped to create a marketing buzz for the phones, available only a limited basis.
