OnePlus unveils new flagship OnePlus 6 smartphone

Thursday 17 May 2018 | 08:48 CET | News

OnePlus has unveiled its new OnePlus 6 smartphone at an event in London, designed to take on the top phones in the market with a more affordable price. The device will start from EUR 519 and go on sale 22 May.

The OnePlus 6 comes with a 6.28-inch Amoled Full HD screen with 19:9 display, following the market trend of bezel-less edges and a 'top notch' to house the camera, speaker and sensors. To give even more screen, OnePlus designed the navigation bar so that it can be replaced with gesture control. The body of the phone has an all-glass design, which the company says facilitates better transmission of radio waves, supporting the device's top potential speed of 1 Gbps. OnePlus used Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back of the device, shaping it with slight curves.

The device runs Qualcomm top processor, the Snapdragon 845, and will be available with a choice of 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage or 8 GB RAM with 128 GB (EUR 569) or 256 GB (EUR 619) of internal storage.

On the back it comes with a double camera of 20 and 16 megapixels with Sony sensors, and the front camera also has 16 megapixels. The 16-megapixel back camera comes with a f/1.7 aperture and OIS, and both the front and back cameras feature portrait mode to capture new depth-of-field and bokeh effects. The OnePlus 6 also marks the introduction of OnePlus' Slow Motion mode, which can capture HD video frame-by-frame.

The device runs a 3,300 mAh battery with quick charging, is dust- and water-resistant and comes with Android 8.1 based on the OnePlus Oxygen OS. The phone will be available in the colours Mirror Black, Midnight Black and a limited-edition Silk White.
