Openreach has announced 36 new locations where it will roll out new FTTP broadband technology over the next 12 months. This boosts the total number of locations included in the multi-billion Fibre First programme to date to 74.
The new locations cover towns and cities across the UK including Doncaster, Newcastle, Chelmsford and St Albans, as well as four new locations in Scotland (Kilmarnock in Ayrshire; Bathgate, Broxburn and Whitburn in West Lothian). Openreach has decided to focus on Scotland after the Scottish Government decided to extend rates relief on new fibre broadband networks.
