Orange secures rights to Besson's new sci-fi movie

Orange announced a partnership with French director Luc Besson to acquire exclusive rights to 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets', a science fiction blockbuster co-produced by Besson and due to arrive in cinemas in July. The agreement, which covers co-investment, co-marketing and sponsorship rights across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, will enable Orange to launch the movie in France on 26 November as a download-to-own release, and on 04 December as a rental.

OCS will have exclusive rights to broadcast the movie in France from the end of May 2018 and for the following two years. The movie will also be released through a number of Orange's VoD services internationally.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Orange will promote the film's cinema release with several special events and promotions. Exclusive content and behind-the-scenes footage will be available on OCS and online (on OrangeSponsorsYou.com and on fans.ocs.fr), alongside competitions to reward film fans.

These activities will be coupled with a new global TV advertising campaign ('Film brings you emotions. Orange brings you film'), launching in early July.
