Orange Spain targets 14 mln FTTH homes by 2019

Orange Spain has decided to accelerate its FTTH rollout and is now on target to reach 14 million households by the end of 2019, one year earlier than planned, reports Expansion, citing the operator’s new CEO Laurent Paillassot. During his intervention at the 30th telecommunications and digital economy meeting at Menendez Pelayo university in Santander, Orange Spain’s CEO said the company had added nearly 3 million FTTH homes in 2016 and aimed to reach a total of 9.6 million households this year thanks in part to the joint fibre build with Vodafone. The company also reached a joint FTTH investment deal with MasMovil earlier this year, giving each company access to 1 million homes.

Paillassot added that Orange Spain has acquired 20 MHz of spectrum in the 3.G GHz band for future 5G development.
