Orange unveils fibre bundles featuring Canal+ TV channels

Orange announced the launch of a new range of fibre packages, which in addition to the existing services include access to 46 Canal Plus TV channels, bundled under the name of 'Famille by Canal'. Available from 6 October, the entry-level Zen package will be marketed with a promotional price of EUR 29.99 per month for the first year (plus EUR 3/month rental for the Livebox router). A further promotion is offered to new customers wishing to add Cine Series to the bundle, offering OCS and seven other movies channels for an additional EUR 1 per month during the first year of subscription (normally priced EUR 13/month).

Orange and Canal Plus had first announced the forthcoming launch of new marketing offers combining their services in July, without disclosing any pricing details. Since then, Orange’s rival Free made the first move by bundling Canal Plus content to its higher-tier Freebox Revolution package and offering the additional 50 TV channels under the “TV by Canal Panorama” banner.

The comparison carried out by Nextinpact shows that Eurosport 1 and 2, two sports channels included by Canal Plus within Canalsat Panorama, are part of Free’s 'TV by Canal Panorama' but are excluded in Orange’s 'Famille by Canal'.

The new offers see Canal Plus for the first time handing over the billing of its TV content to telecoms partners, relinquishing complete control of the customer relationship in a bid to maximise the number of consumer acquisitions via these new commercial agreements.
