Over 300 million pay-TV customers can access Netflix through STBs - research

Over 300 million pay-TV homes worldwide subscribe to operators offering access to Netflix via their set-top boxes, according to new research from Ampere Analysis.

Netflix has to date agreed partnership deals with more than 100 major operators worldwide, giving it theoretical access to almost half of all worldwide pay-TV customers outside of China. As of end-2018, three quarters of W European and 86 percent of N American pay-TV subscribers had contract with Netflix partner operators. The company has also added more than 15 major new pay-TV partners in 2019. 

The research shows that Netflix has yet to agree partnership deals with major pay-TV operators in the Asia-Pacific (APAC), C&E Europe (CEE) and Central & South America regions, but is steadily working to increase its reach in these markets.
