Pecik, Sawiris seek Telekom Austria board seats
Telekom Austria investor Ronny Pecik and his ally Naguib Sawiris are to seek seats on the supervisory board at the Austrian operator. If elected, this would mean an expansion in the number of members on the board. The company announced the proposal as an extra item on the agenda for its annual shareholders meeting, to be held on 23 May. Pecik and Sawiris have built a stake of just over 20 percent in the company via shares and call options. Austrian state holding company OeIAG is Telekom's biggest investor with a 28.4 percent stake.

Pecik is happy with existing 21% stake in Telekom Austria

Telekom Austria investor Ronny Pecik is content with his current stake of around 21 percent in the company, Reuters reports. Speaking before the company's AGM, Pecik played down media reports that he was looking to build up his shareholding. Pecik is seeking a seat on Telekom Austria's extend supervisory board. Pecik has no immediate plans to sell Telekom Austria stake

Telekom Austria shareholder Ronny Pecik is happy to hold onto his stake in the company. In an interview with Austrian magazine 'Format', Pecik said that he had nothing against an offer from Norwegian operator Telenor, but added that he did not want to sell his shares too quickly after fighting hard to buy them. This follows reports that Telenor was interested in his Telekom Austria stake. In the interview, Pecik also said that he had recently met with China Mobile executives. Egyptian tycoon Naguib Sawiris said he will be a long-term investor in Telekom Austria even if his partner Ronny Pecik decides to exit after building a joint stake of more than one fifth, Reuters reported, citing an interview with Austrian magazine News.
