Pokemon Go creator Niantic raises USD 190 mln in new funding

Pokemon Go creator Niantic has closed a USD 190 million round of funding, according to filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. A total of 26 investors participated in the round.

The SEC filing appears to confirm a report from the Wall Street Journal in mid-December that the company was looking to raise USD 200 million from investors, including IVP, aXiomatic Gaming and Samsung, at a value of USD 3.9 billion. The SEC filing did not provide details on the new investors.

With the latest funding, Niantic has raised more than USD 415 million to date. In 2017, San Francisco-based Niantic raised USD 200 million at about a USD 2.7 billion valuation. Existing shareholders include Spark Capital, Founders Fund and Meritech Capital Partners.
