
Polish competition regulator UOKiK has cleared the acquisition by cable operator Vectra of cable operator Multimedia Polska. The decision green light comes with some conditions. The procedure has taken around 18 months. According to sources at Telko.in, the deal is expected to close by the end of the month, though no price has yet been announced.
Liberty Global, the owner of UPC Poland, estimated Multimedia Polska at USD 760 million but abandoned its own takeover plans in 2018.
One of the conditions to be fulfilled by Vectra are the sale of its network infrastructure in eight cities and towns. Vectra must also let subscribers change service providers without any restrictions in another 13 cities and towns.
Vectra and Multimedia Polska have a total subscriber base of about 1.6 million. The networks of both both operators cover around 4.3 million households.
