Qualcomm updates Snapdragon 4, 6, 7 series with new chips

Qualcomm announced new Snapdragon smartphone processors across its 4, 6 and 7 series. Features from the top-end 8 series have been brought to the lower ranges, in order to address demand for popular segments in the premium and mid-range 5G and 4G markets.

The new Snapdragon 778G Plus is a follow-on to the Snapdragon 778G, with a boost in GPU and CPU performance to deliver "cutting-edge" mobile gaming and accelerated artificial intelligence for photos and videos.

The new Snapdragon 695 5G provides support for both mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum on 5G networks. This platform features up to 30 percent faster graphics rendering and 15 percent improvement in CPU performance compared to Snapdragon 690, Qualcomm said. This enables immersive gaming, high-end capture, and increased productivity.

For the 4G market, there is the new Snapdragon 680 4G, built on 6nm process technology. This processor is designed to deliver compelling all-day experiences, including optimized gaming and triple ISP featuring AI-enhanced low light capture technology.

Finally, the Snapdragon 480 Plus builds on the success of the Snapdragon 480, which features in over 85 devices to date. The new model targets more affordable 5G phones, with improved performance to power in-demand productivity and entertainment experiences.
