Richard becomes France Telecom-Orange chairman and CEO
France Telecom-Orange's board of directors formally noted at its meeting of 23 February, Didier Lombard's decision to hand over his responsibilities as chairman and named CEO Stephane Richard to the role of chairman and CEO with effect from 1 March 2011. Lombard becomes special adviser to Richard on the strategic options and technological outlook for the group.

Richard to seek second term as head of Orange

Orange chairman and CEO Stephane Richard told people gathered at a CFE-CGC-UNSA union conference in Paris that he would seek a second term when his current one expires in June 2014. Richard, once a member of current IMF president Christine Lagarde's team at the French ministry of finance, joined France Telecom-Orange in September 2009, was appointed CEO in March 2010 and became chairman in February 2011.

France Telecom-Orange outlined its strategic and financial plans for 2011-15, focusing on increased investment and cost reductions in order to return to consistent revenue and cash flow growth. France Telecom-Orange has appointed Vincent Benoit as head of mergers and acquisitions, reporting to the group's executive vice president for finance and IT systems, Gervais Pelissier. Benoit joined the company in 2006 as head of investor relations and was given further responsibility since 2009 as head of planning and strategy. Orange France reported revenues down 0.8 percent on a comparable basis to EUR 5.88 billion in the fourth quarter 2010, versus the year-earlier period. France Telecom sees organic revenue up slightly in 2011

France Telecom reported fourth-quarter revenues of EUR 11.73 billion, up 4.1 percent from a year earlier thanks to positive currency effects and the takeover of Mobinil in Egypt. On a comparable basis revenues fell 0.5 percent, amid a 0.8 percent decline in France, 1.2 percent drop in Poland and 3.5 percent lower revenues from business customers. France Telecom-Orange executive board chairman Didier Lombard is expected to leave before his term runs out in June, according to the Lettre A industry newsletter. This means Stephane Richard will become chairman and executive director before he presents the group's medium-term strategy.
