Roku opens office in Amsterdam to support international expansion

Roku has announced its expansion to the Netherlands, with a new office in Amsterdam. The US-based company said the office, with space for up to 150 employees, will support further international expansion.

Marketing people, business development specialists, and financial and legal staff will work in the Dutch office. It adds to the company's existing sites in Europe in the UK, Ukraine and Denmark.

Roku most recently expanded sales of its media players to Germany, and also sells the devices in the UK and France. It also provides its OS on smart TVs from TCL and Hisense in the UK.

Worldwide, Roku is active in over 20 countries. The company did not say whether it expects to enter the Dutch TV market.

Roku joins a growing number of tech companies setting up in Amsterdam, such as Netflix, Uber and Booking.com. According to acting mayor Victor Everhardt, Roku will help create new opportunities for the diverse talent in the city.
