Safaricom, Vodacom start cross-border mobile money transfers
Kenyan operator Safaricom's M-Pesa customers will be able to send and receive money from Tanzania, in a move that is aimed at deepening financial inclusion and giving a further boost to the regional integration agenda. Safaricom has partnered with Tanzanian mobile operator and sister company Vodacom to enable seamless transactions between Kenya's nearly 20 million M-Pesa customers and Tanzania's 7 million M-Pesa customers. Vodacom subscribers can send money to M-Pesa subscribers and vice versa, boosting the volume of transactions and trade between the two countries.

Kenyan operator Safaricom is extending its mobile money service M-Pesa to Uganda thanks to an agreement with MTN Uganda. MTN Rwanda inks money transfer deal with Safaricom

MTN Rwanda said it has opened its corridor with Kenyan operator Safaricom to let MTN Mobile Money and M-Pesa users send and receive money between the two countries. Competition body says no proof Safaricom abuses dominance

The Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) says there is no evidence that Safaricom is abusing its dominant position in the market.
