Samsung guides for higher revenues, profit in Q3

Samsung Electronics has given an earning guidance for the third quarter, saying it sees revenues at KRW 72-74 trillion and the operating profit at KRW 15.8 trillion. This compares to revenues of KRW 66.96 trillion and an operating profit of KRW 12.35 trillion the year before.

During the second quarter, Samsung revenues lifted 20 percent year-on-year to KRW 63.67 trillion, while the operating profit leaped 54 percent to KRW 12.57 trillion.

Samsung to deploy vRAN in KDDI's 5G network

Samsung Electronics has announced it will deploy its cloud-native fully virtualized Radio Access Network (vRAN) services for mid-band spectrum in Japanese operator's KDDI's 5G network. Samsung and KDDI have been collaborating on research on vRAN. Most recently, the companies completed a 5G Standalone (SA) call using Samsung's vRAN and another vendor's 5G Massive MIMO radios, which are O-RAN compliant.

Samsung fined EUR 40 mln for manipulating retail TV prices in Netherlands

Dutch competition regulator ACM has imposed a fine of almost EUR 40 million on Samsung, saying the manufacturer exercised undue influence on the online sales prices of seven retailers of TV sets. Samsung sought to counter the rapid fall in prices for TV models after their introduction by coordinating prices with retailers. With the price fixing, Samsung was able to protect its own margins and the margins of those retailers, to the detriment of the consumer, the ACM said.

Samsung net profit jumps 73% in Q2 on strong chip demand, steady mobile business

Samsung Electronics reported second-quarter revenues up 20 percent year-on-year to KRW 63.67 trillion, driven by the strong market demand for memory and other semiconductor products as well as premium consumer electronics. This helped offset component shortages and supply chain problems affecting its smartphone business. Operating profit jumped 54 percent to KRW 12.57 trillion, and the company's net profit rose 73 percent to KRW 9.63 trillion.

Samsung forecasts slower Q4 after smartphones drive jump in Q3 results

Samsung Electronics reported a strong increase in third-quarter results, led by a 50 percent sequential increase in mobile phone sales. While demand recovered in Q3 from the Covid-19 effects earlier in the year, Samsung said it expects profit to fall in Q4, amid weakening memory chip demand from server customers and intensifying competition in mobile phones and consumer electronics.
