SFR's new movie channel to launch in August as Altice Studio

SFR announced that its new movie channel, first unveiled in December 2016, will go live in France on 22 August as Altice Studio and will become available in OTT mode from September.

Originally scheduled for July, the launch was initially planned under the SFR brand. SFR’s parent has since announced a rebranding strategy which will see SFR and other sister companies worldwide change their consumer-facing identity to Altice by mid-2018.

The new channel is part of SFR’s main content assets under the group’s “360 cinema and series” platform, which also includes SVoD service SFR Play. It will offer exclusive movies and series from NBCUniversal’s catalogue, as well as original TV series in which Altice has invested, such as Riviera.

In related news, SFR also announced that Altice will pre-finance Place Publique, a French comedy from SBS Productions which is expected in cinemas next year.
