
Smart LTE-A trials reach over 210 Mbps

Philippine mobile services provider Smart Communications has held further LTE-Advanced services in metro Manila and Davao. At trials held first in Makati City in cooperation with network equipment provider Huawei, Smart achieved speeds of up to 209.66 Mbps. The company said that at the recent Kadayawan festival in Davao City, it achieved LTE-A speeds of up to 210.58 Mbps. File download tests were also performed, with a 10 MB file taking about five seconds to download from an FTP server via the current Smart LTE network, and the same downloading via LTE-A in about a second, Smart said. In the test set-up in both Makati City and Davao City, LTE-A was also deployed over Wi-Fi.
