South Korea fines Apple for collection of location data

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has decided to fine Apple for illegally collecting iPhone users' location data, reports Yonhap news agency. Apple violated the country's location information laws and was ordered to pay a fine of KRW 3 million (about USD 2,800). The commission also ordered Apple to make appropriate corrections to its practices. The JoongAng Daily writes that the KCC also told Google to change its practices for Android phones. Google was not fined as the Android operating system does not map user location data without consent but does save the data in its cache.
